Squats
Benefits of doing squats
Squats are mostly known as a leg exercise, but they promote body-wide muscle building by catalyzing an anabolic environment
Squats are one of the best functional exercises, promoting mobility and balance and helping you complete day-to-day activities with ease
Squats help you to burn more fat, as one of the most time-efficient ways to burn more calories continually is by developing more muscle
Though criticized for being destructive to your knees, research shows that when done properly, squats actually improve knee stability and strengthen connective tissue
How to do squats properly using only your body weight
Stand with your feet just over shoulder width apart, arms straight out
Keep your back in a neutral position, and keep your knees centered over your feet
Slowly bend your knees, hips and ankles, lowering until you reach a 90 degree angle
Return to starting position
Breathe in as you lower, breathe out as you return to starting position
Do each repetition in super slow motion
Do one-set-to-failure (until you can’t do anymore)
If needed for balance, place one hand on a chair or table for support
