Exercise and Your Immune System

Who would have ever thought that 2020 would introduce a pandemic. As I’m sure you know, the most vulnerable to getting the the Coronavirus are those with a weak or compromised immune system. So, if there was ever a time to do whatever you can to strengthen your immune system, this is it!

Fortunately, recent studies have shown that exercise strengthens your immune system to help prevent these infections. Exercise has been linked to a temporary increase in the production of macrophages (cells that attack bacteria). And consistent exercise leads to long-term results. For example, exercisers have half as many sick days due to colds and sore throats.

In addition, all the body’s immune cells circulate through the body faster, and more comprehensively, during physical activity. This allows these cells to quickly and effectively kill the virus or bacteria.

What is also interesting is that super-intense exercise may actually decrease immunity. Research has shown (60-90 minutes of high-intensity exercise) can raise certain hormone levels. And those hormones can temporarily reduce immunity.

This is were the fit10 exercise program becomes the equivalent of taking a daily virus prevention pill. Because fit10 only takes ten minutes a day, it eliminates the “I don’t have time today” excuse that many times derails people from staying consistent with their exercise routine.

Stay healthy, keep exercising!
